Inspection |

Our qualified, trained quality inspectors understand the importance of "In-process Inspection" and "Zero Defect" quality goals. Inspection personnel have been factory-trained on our more sophisticated equipment such as CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine and Vision System.

Wire EDM |
 |
Success by diversification. Customer parts that would be impossible to machine
before Wire EDM need only a start hole through the part to be machined and the
wire can be programmed to cut any shape, even square at the top and round at the bottom.
This process uses an electrically charged brass wire (0.004" to 0.012") to vaporize
the material in its path producing high accuracy and quality finishes. Compatible
materials include steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and carbide, but disallow plastics
or insulating materials. By adding finishing passes, 0.0002 tolerance is possible.
Typical uses include making punches & dies, form tools and almost sharp cornered
thin walled sections with very little introduction of stress.

Laser Marking |
 |
Laser Marking part numbers, artwork or logos onto customer’s parts is far superior to messy inks, destructive engraving, or stamping. The Vector Mark Laser is a pumped diode yag laser, which allows for marking on metals and plastics on flat or curved surfaces. Little tooling on single parts, or nested tooling for high volume multi-run parts, is economical and produces astounding results by creating sharp images and definition. Laser marking provides a permanent etch on the work piece thus allowing for aggressive cleaning without diminishing legibility.

CNC Horizontal Milling |
 |
Attack 3 sides of the part to provide efficient processing while maintaining geometric relationships. This process works well on parts with holes and features on the face and sides.

Extrude Honing |
 |
Under very high pressure a Silly Putty type material impregnated with abrasive media of varying grit sizes is pumped through a part that needs polishing or deburring. This process can save many hours of polishing by hand while giving consistent results.

High Speed Machining |
 |
Billet Precision reduces costs when machining components from solid aluminum by running the cutting spindle at 20,000 rpm and doubling feed rates. Latest generation servo-motors allow close following of programmed paths for higher accuracy with no over/under shoot in the corners. High speed machining enables a direct finished size without a finishing cut on thin wall sections.

Honing |
 |
Honing provides excellent internal diameter size control with the ability to correct taper, roundness and alignment. An abrasive stone flooded with large amounts of cutting oil is reciprocated through the part while removing material from high spots and eventually creating a round straight hole.

Swiss Style Screw Machining |
 |
This unique process has material pushing through a guide bushing and past a stationary tool as opposed to the tool moving over the work piece on a conventional lathe. This allows for quicker part processing by using a single pass. This machine also has live tooling and back-end working, which allows for single step processing to reduce overall part costs.

Precision Cleaning |
 |
Precision cleaning of parts is a critical step in our quality process. Depending on parts being cleaned, either a vapor based ultrasonic cleaning or water based ultrasonic cleaning system is selected. These systems ensure customers the cleanest of parts with no re–cleaning by the end-user.

CNC Cylindrical Grinding |
 |
Between centers gives true roundness and extreme accuracy on cylindrical parts when coupled to the latest CNC servo motors with high precision Glass Scales on all axis. Grind Diameters within 2 microns is possible.

Subcontracting |
 |
Quality Control and regular monitoring of Approved Subcontractors is a crucial part of Billet Precision’s ISO 9001–2000 quality management system. Outside processes such as, anodizing, nickel–plating, gold–plating, and painting are carefully monitored, quality inspected before and after subcontracted services, and finally approved as per specifications thus ensuring the highest quality possible is maintained.

Surface Grinding |
 |
Extremely flat parts with less than 5 micron parallelism can make a tough job into an easy one when utilizing a Precision Surface Grinder. Typically, magnetic parts are placed onto a electromagnetic chuck to hold them in place while grinding. A great machine for making tooling, jigs and fixtures.

Die Sink EDM |

Producing internal features with sharp corners using Die Sink EDM with great accuracy is easily achievable. This unique process applies electrically charged electrodes to vaporize the material in its path producing high accuracy and quality finishes.
